The Night The Lowry Got Liberated.

Stick it in yer diary: October 3rd 2006 – the night Salford stormed The Lowry in a blitz of spotlights, limos and red carpets. A thousand people attended the biggest film premiere the city has ever seen. A community film premiere. And the cost of the theatre hire ? Nothing.

Now every community group in Salford should get in there and use the place for nowt. A precedent has been set… This was the night The Lowry’s drawbridge came down….

The new Langworthy.

There's been consultations, competitions, loads of highly paid consultants, successful lottery bids, money thrown at it from here, there and everywhere… The result ? The fantastic makeover of Chimney Pot Park won't even have a new toilet, parking for the disabled or a bench to sit on. These have all been dropped from the council led improvements to the park "owing to budget limitations", according to a report from Salford's director of housing and planning, which quotes the total cost of the scheme, including fees, as £583,743.
