Boycott Dogs4Us has called two protests for next Saturday, one in Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester, and, later, outside the Dogs4Us store on Agecroft Road... The Boycott Dogs4Us campaign has called two `vigils' next Saturday, 18th February, to remember, it states, "victims of puppy farming; the parent dogs trapped in windowless sheds and over bred, the sick and dying puppies and the heartbroken families who buy them...

"The vigil is calling on Salford Council to stop the sale of puppies in pet shops, and by other third-party dealers, as they act as middle men for the puppy farmers" it adds "Dogs4Us sells puppies that they purchase from cruel, confined facilities known as 'puppy farms', where dogs are kept without light, heat or human contact. Dogs4Us have been exposed on Channel 5, Sky News and BBC."

Dogs4Us are selling sick and dying dogs to the public, the sooner they are closed down the better.

Puppy farming is bad for dogs and the people who buy them. Dogs4Us has been exposed in the national press so many times and they have such a bad name around Salford. The Council needs to start being proactive and thinking creatively about how to close this place for good. Dogs4Us is literally mocking them and mocking the people it's scammed.

Anna, if you buy a dog from a puppy farm it is far more likely to become sick. That is why if you search "Dogs4Us" you will find so many cases. Pet insurance doesn't cover everything and their are exclusions in every policy. Even if some of the costs are covered you are still left heartbroken when the dogs dies, something places like Dogs4Us will never understand!

Can anyone promise me that any puppy I buy from any source will not get ill, catch a disease or die ? We live in the real world anything living and breathing can get sick or die, we have the national health service, pet owners should have insurance ! Your arguments do NOT make sense if somebody has paid 5 to 20 thousand for a poorly dog then they could have afforded an insurance policy.

Mark, your comments really make laugh. Why would they protest outside puppy farmings?! No one goes there to buy a puppy. The public are not allowed in, that's the point! Outside Dogs4Us they can be seen by people thinking of buying a puppy. Outside a puppy farm would be pointless. Do you even think before comment? You are funny :D

@Mark not about people's is it when people end up spending 5000-20,000 on vets bill due to issues caused by puppy farming, where is the choice in that?! My friend spend so much on vet bill on a dog from there. Dogs4Us is a sick money making scheme. Good on the protesters!

@ Adam Jones @ Ollie @ Alex You keep banging about these puppy farms and you have their address, so why don't you go and do a protest outside one of them? pitch your tents do what the Greenham Common ladies did, set up camp, and stay there until you get your wish, I will come and join you as I would have some respect for your actions and commitment then !ATM your taking the soft option which is not saving one single dog or puppy. Direct action speaks louder than your hollow words. doh lets go on a jaunt to Manchester today we might go on one to Leeds next week !

Mark, don't be silly. This isn't about choice, if any of the customers went to the farms that supply Dogs4Us they would not buy a dog from them. No one wants a dog from a windowless shed that has never spent time with people. Why can't the public go to these farms? We all know Dogs4Us is a scam! I wish they would get out of Salford!

@ Alex I can hardly stop laughing at your comment about "real breeders" Are they the same ones breeding ugly sick dogs to go into show rings? and the ones that are not fit for the show ring end up in other breeders hands? As for a rescue dog, not everybody wants one, not everybody is up to correcting bad behavior brought on by previous unsuitable owners. You can make a lot of noise but you cannot stop people having the freedom of choice over where they buy their next puppy from.

Thought Salford Star was about free speach? My last comments were removed for speaking the truth! Dogs 4 Us hasn't broken any laws and operates within legislation and it has been proved by the leader of the environmental services. It is a pity that campaigners don't turn there attention to more worthy causes like council cutbacks, child poverty and such like.

The sooner the Council actually do something the better. These puppy dealers are laughing at their incompetence! What do we pay our Council tax for?! We have all seen the footage of where these puppies come from! The sooner Dogs4Us is out of Salford the better!

The point is the legal puppy farms are as bad as the illegal ones. DOGS4US' suppliers are just as bad as any illegal puppy farm even tho they have a license. The reason it is not possible to uphold complaints against this evil store is that most of the abuse is done on its supplier puppy farms. I have seen the footage on Sky, Channel 5 and the BBC showing Dogs4Us supplier farms - windowless sheds, no heat, no light - sick!

Funny to see all the comments by Dogs4Us as they are clearly worried about this campaign. Dogs4Us is the biggest pet shop seller of puppy farm dogs in UK, presumably why they are the target of protests rather than other stores. The only way this trade is continued is via third party sellers like Dogs4Us. The choice is not buy via Dogs4Us or buy via some doggy advert online. Both type of sales are as bad as each other! Visit are real breeder or better still a rescue.

More important things to address in Salford than a few puppies on sale (most Salfordonians couldnt afford them)!. Best they are sold here than a puppy farmer who definitely ill treats tha animals. Anyway that said who cares about dumb animals when we have lots of homeless people?

I deplore any animal cruelty,I have not yet seen any proof that DOG4US have ever committed any, let alone bred any animals whatsoever. If Pet shops shut down then sales will go on the Internet and sellers will be totally untraceable, more unlicensed breeders will jump on the bandwagon. Shutting pet shops will increase breeding. With a licensed pet shop you do have somewhere to go back to.The social media sites have already refused to ban the sale of puppies!!!

Why are you always targeting this pet shop dogs 4 us ? I have never heard or seen that you target other pet stores anywhere? dogs 4 us is doing nothing wrong and i think i would prefer to have pet shops in existence rather than people who are advertising puppies on social media and on the internet as there is no regulation. I think this group craves any type of attention and something is very sadly lacking in your lives. Its obvious you are not making any head way with your campaigns and never will. It appears that dogs 4 us are working within licensing regulations as stated by David Lancaster. Stop wasting police time and stay at home :)

This was part of his new 'vision' for housing across Greater Manchester, unveiled at  Salford Lads Club. While homelessness also took centre stage at the Conference, people who actually work with the street homeless were denied entry.

The Salford tower block cladding crisis could take years to sort out and will cost millions of pounds that the Council doesn't have, civic leaders told a full meeting of Salford City Council yesterday as they criticised the Tory Government's response post-Grenfell.

Meanwhile, as concrete boards are starting to be installed over exposed insulation on the blocks, Lead Member, Bill Hinds, said residents could start "voting with their feet" and leave their homes.

Dennett will be setting out a new 'affordable housing vision' for Greater Manchester but homeless campaigners will be protesting and holding a procession from the Lads Club to a squat at Hulme Hippodrome. Salford City Council has been bulldozing affordable housing for the last decade and allowing developers to evade contributing to new affordable housing.
