As the annual International Workers Memorial Day looms on Wednesday 28th April, the annual Salford event to remember Irwell Valley miners takes place next Saturday 24th April at 12:45, by the Miners Memorial on Agecroft Road.
The short ceremony will include reading out the names of those who perished in the city's mines, while also remembering frontline workers who have died during the pandemic. All are welcome.
On International Workers Memorial Day itself, Wednesday 28th April, there will be an online event from 11:55am with speakers including Salford and Eccles MP Rebecca Long Bailey, and Salford UNISON's Ameen Hadi.
This years theme is the Fundamental Right to Safe and Healthy Work, and the event chaired by Lynn Collins the North West TUC Regional Secretary, will also include speakers Ian Hodson BFAWU President, Rob Rayner GMAVSG, and a Thompsons Solicitors speaker.
