OUTDOOR SPORTS AND OUTDOOR GATHERINGS ALLOWED

Salford has 22 new coronavirus cases, down from the previous day's 33, while the seven day rate per 100,000 population now stands at 86.5, down from 89.2. There has been one new virus-related death announced by Salford Royal Hospital.

Meanwhile, from today outdoor gatherings, including in private gardens, of either six people or two households is allowed, while outdoor sports facilities can open.

Salford has 22 new coronavirus cases, down from the previous day's 33, bringing the cumulative total to 22,812. The seven day average of cases in Salford is now 224, down from 231, while the seven day rate per 100,000 population now stands at 86.5, down from 89.2.

Elsewhere in Greater Manchester, the seven day average of cases in Bury is 167 (up from 165), with a seven day rate per 100,000 population of 87.4 (up from 86.4); Bolton 297 (down from 314), with a rate of 103.3 (down from 109.2); Manchester 488 (down from 502), with a rate of 88.3 (down from 90.8); and Oldham 252 (down from 256), with a rate of 106.3 (down from 108).

Rochdale has a seven day average of cases of 242 (down from 246), with a seven day rate of 108.8 (down from 110.6); Stockport 230 (up from 224), with a rate of 78.4 (up from 76.3); Tameside 247 (down from 264), with a rate of 109.1 (down from 116.6); Trafford 118 (down from 119), with a rate of 49.7 (down from 50.1); and Wigan 323 (down from 341), with a rate of 98.3 (down from 103.8).

There has been one new virus-related death announced by Salford Royal Hospital.

Meanwhile, from today, outdoor gatherings, including in private gardens, of either six people (the Rule of 6) or two households is allowed, and outdoor sports facilities, such as tennis and basketball courts, and open-air swimming pools, will also be allowed to reopen, and people will be able to take part in formally organised outdoor sports.

"The 'stay at home' rule will end on 29 March but many restrictions will remain in place" states the Government "People should continue to work from home where they can and minimise the number of journeys they make where possible, avoiding travel at the busiest times and routes.

"Travel abroad will continue to be prohibited, other than for a small number of permitted reasons" it adds "Holidays abroad will not be allowed, given it will remain important to manage the risk of imported variants and protect the vaccination programme."

A Government taskforce will review global travel, reporting on 12th April.
