As candidates line up to take on Andy Burnham in the 6th May election for Greater Manchester Mayor, there's two online hustings this week.
It begins on Wednesday 31st March, where, from 7pm, candidates will be grilled on transport at a hustings hosted by the University of Salford, a very live issue at the moment with buses possibly coming back under public control, controversy over HS2, a region full of cycle lanes and an ever expanding Metrolink.
Candidates attending and invited are...Andy Burnham, Labour Party; Laura Evans, Conservative Party (invited); Peter Clifford, Communist League; Melanie Horrocks, Green Party (invited); Michael Elston, Independent; Simon Lepori, Liberal Democrats; and Stephen Morris, English Democrats (invited).
Salford University is home to the Healthy Active Cities research group which pushes for policy making to take account of active travel when planning cities' transport infrastructure and funding.
"Whether it's about public transport, low traffic neighbourhoods, e-scooters, or many other pertinent issues, we're looking forward to an evening of challenging and ambitious discussion about the future of transport in region" says Dr Graeme Sherriff, School of Health and Society, Co-ordinator of Healthy Active Cities, which is hosting the event.

Meanwhile on Thursday 1st April, between 5:30pm and 7pm, GMCAN, or the Greater Manchester Climate Action Network, has organised mayoral hustings on climate and the environment
"The present mayor, Andy Burnham, has promised a lot in terms of emissions reductions but is on course to deliver far less" states GMCAN "He and candidates or representatives of other parties will be answering your questions."
