VIEWS ON SALFORD E SCOOTERS WANTED AS TRIAL SET TO EXPAND

Salford is currently in the midst of an e-scooter trial which sees the Lime scooters operative in Media City and on the University of Salford Campus, although it is illegal to ride a privately owned e-scooter on roads and pavements. The scheme is soon to be expanded into other areas of the city and as e-scooters become more popular, the University of Salford has launched a survey to study people's experiences and perceptions of the vehicles. It's funded by Transport for Greater and Manchester and Lime, and researchers hope that their findings will help shape future e-scooter policy. The survey, which is open until 26th March, takes between five and ten minutes to complete, you don't need to have used an e-scooter to take part, and everyone who does take part will be entered into a draw to win £100. | I think they are brilliant, very fun and eco friendly and saving polution.
With not alot to do whilst still kind of in lock down this is a great activity to get out and about when bored |

| the idiots were i guess writing in general daniel its a good idea but its not just the scooters pertaining to the story any body can obtain a scooter what ever age i saw at least 10 young people on these death traps the other day without protective equipment all under 18 and i have seen many others a young kid was hit by one and was left with a fractured skull and in newcastle it got so bad with dangerous scooter riders the scheme was withdrawn only one solution ban them or restrict them to campuse or safe zone but keep them off the streets also mobility scooters are just that for people with mobility problems thats acceptable able bodied people taking there lives and others and putting people at risk of serious injury is not i hope that gives you a wider perspective daniel . |

| The idiots in these comments not doing their research before writing. Firstly, users must be 18 and have a driving license to use them (they have to upload this to the app and the scooters won't be unlocked without them), they also go a maximum of 15 miles an hour and are limited depending in the area they are using geo-fencing. IE, a built up area, they only go 5 miles an hour and physically can't go any faster. They are a great idea, but they are too slow and dangerous for roads and should be on paths where there's not bike paths! You don't expect a mobility scooter to be driven on the road and they go similar speeds. |

| The Council are a joke, they always have and they always will be. I got my vote labour thing thru the door this morning. I screwed it up in a ball and binned it. Anybody with a brain must realise that having e scooters whizzing almost silently along the pavement at fifteen miles per hour is a bad fucking idea. But not the CLOWNCIL. When will those muppets's lunacy ever end? Oh that's right, it will end when they've socially cleansed most of Salford of its natural voting base, and re stocked the place with immigrants and yuppies. Neither of whom are Labour voters. Salford City Clowncil, a tyranny of useless mugs who are slowly but surely hastening their own political demise with stupid strategies and ill thought out policies .... and now the debacle of the e bikes. And Arnold Rimmer, sniff sniff ... I smell cuckold. |

| @wrote. If you learnt to read, you'll see they can't be rented without a drivers licence or provisional. They need providing to register for the app. Yes, some kid could use their mums licence to reigister, but that won't go down well when the mum gets 3 points on her licence or if the kids are stopped by police. Easy to trace which account used which bike. |

| The knobs at the council have not been thinking straight again.Suppose we all had one of these scooters. They are too slow for the road,and too fast for the pavement. Imagine thousands of these in our beloved bus lanes. Old ladies getting knocked down on the pavement. If I were the son of an old lady knocked down,I would be suing the bollocks off the council for letting scooters on the pavement. |

| I think these are a complete waste of the tax payers money. They should be regulated and you should have to have a license to drive one, not only are most of the riders not wearing helmets they are often driven at the maximum speed of 25mph on the pavement.
Pedestrians are at risk and there have been lots of accidents reported. I do feel they will soon go down the same route as the mobikes and be scattered across the city. |

| What a sad decline in our country, when citizens describe an e scooter as looking "Epic". Time was, when epic meant something, something heroic, something noble. Case in point, when twenty four of my Apache ancestors broke out of San Carlos and went on the run for close to a year, pursued by five thousand US soldiers and bounty hunters on the American side and up to fifteen thousand Mexican soldiers just across the border. That was epic. Or Spartacus leading his "Slave" Army in revolt against the might of the Romans, or Boudicca sacking Colchester and Londinium in order to avenge both her daughters and herself. These things are "EPIC", not an E Scooter. Get it right, okay. And learn the meaning of the word "Epic" .... |

| This scheme may be expanding in to other areas of the city however its a little behind the curve scooters are now a fact of street life they are being driven on pavements all over the city and a nice race tracks just been finished for the scooter boys and girls to whizz around Salford Precint san souci its bad enough dodging the bike brigade on the pavement but at least you can see them coming the scooter drivers are at a low centre of sight and they reach speeds of 25 mile per hour if a pedestrian is hit by a scooter and rider the combined speed weight and mass will seriously injure or kill some innocent child or elderly person and also the rider and i have yet to see any riders wearing protective helmet or safety equipment and no doubt with proliferation the scooter will be driven not by one person but will be driven by little gangs which will take up all the space on confined pavements disasters mayhem waiting to happen here.I am not against the concept i think its a great idea scooter travel however we do not have the road infrastructure to accommodate scooter riding and unfortunately to many people with the wrong mindsets and attitudes i have been around the Benelux countries where they are far in advance of bike and scooter riding better infrastructure and where a more sensible attitude prevails to street riding. This country would have to invest in more education in aspects of attitude safety and respect before a free for all starts i would suggest tests a license and insurance.An elderly friend of mine was nearly hit by an idiot on a bike when he remonstrated with the bike rider he was told to f off pedestrians are already in danger this country is not mature enough to have scooter travel yet perhaps in the future this all needs thinking through the theory is good the practise will not be. |

I think it's a great idea, it looks epic,
Love the colours, very eco friendly. Will help with pollution, traffic and hopefully will save a lot of time for people to get to their destination

| Already had a run in with Electric Scooter.Comming out of local shop I saw a young woman knocked down by one. Luckily she was not hurt, just shaken but, it could have been much worst. They can travel at some speed and on the pavement because they cannot be used on the road. |
