Swinton Square has been searching for local heroes who deserve recognition for going above and beyond in 2020 to help out their communities. The winners were nominated by their friends and families and received a hamper full of chocolates, biscuits, cakes and vouchers for Costa, Freeze Factory and Max Spielmann in time for Christmas.
Some examples of winners include a postman who had been fundraising for good causes, supermarket workers who have ensured door stop deliveries, Agecroft firefighters who have worked through lockdown supporting Nightingale hospitals, and of course key workers from the NHS who are the supermen and women of our time. All these valiant Swintonians have been awarded for making life better for our communities in 2020.
"It's been great to hear about the good deeds and kind actions that people of the Swinton community have conducted over the last year to support others" says centre manager at Swinton Square, Chris Doidge.
The winners were surprised and excited to hear about their festive treat and nomination. The daughter of Deborah Nicholls who was awarded for her work on a helpline providing advice during the pandemic said that her mum had been "over the moon" when she got the award, and went on to say that she was "really pleased" about the recognition her mum has received. The fire crew turned up to collect their hamper in a fire engine!
