Salford has 47 new coronavirus cases, up from the previous day's 44, bringing the cumulative total to 14,318. The seven day average of cases has remained the same at 397, as has the seven day rate per 100,000 population which stands at 153.4.
Elsewhere in Greater Manchester, cases in Manchester during the latest seven day data period were 965 (up from 964), with a rate of 174.5 (up from 174.4), followed by Bolton with 427 (up from 421), with a rate of 148.5 (up from 146.4), and Oldham 443 (up from 431), with a rate of 186.8 (up from 181.8).
Wigan has a rate of 576 (down from 585), with a rate of 175.3 (down from 178), Tameside 218 (up from 207), with a rate of 96.3 (up from 91.4), Rochdale 487 (up from 461), with a rate of 219 (up from 207.3), Stockport 305 (down from 317), with a rate of 103.9 (down from 108), Bury 408 (up from 391), with a rate of 213.6 (up from 204.7), and Trafford 281 (up from 259), with a rate of 118.4 (up from 109.1).
There has been one new virus-related death at Salford Royal Hospital. New figures from the NHS reveal that between 7th and 13th December, there were 90 total admissions of COVID-19 patients to Salford Royal Hospital and diagnoses in hospital, up from the previous week's 56. Of these 90, 66 were new admissions from the community, and 12 were from care homes; and the rest were presumably diagnosed while in hospital.
In total 136 beds at Salford Royal were occupied by COVID patients on 15th December, and there were 13 patients in mechanical ventilator beds.
There has still been no word from the Salford City Mayor or our MPs on the Government's decision to keep Greater Manchester in Tier 3...
