After the lockdown on 2nd December, Salford and Greater Manchester will be placed in Tier 3, Very High Alert. Yesterday, Greater Manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham, made a case for a borderline Tier 2 position, as cases in the region are plummeting but he fully expected to be in Tier 3 (see earlier Salford Star article – click here).
Earlier today, Burnham tweeted: "Places put into Tier 3 today will get no additional business support funding than those in Tier 1 or Tier 2. Can that possibly be fair?" He was mainly referring to the hospitality sector which will be hit again. The three million people excluded from financial support will continue to get next to nothing.
