Salford has 74 new coronavirus cases, down from the previous day's 108, bringing the cumulative total to 12,815. The seven day average of cases has decreased to 1,036 from 1,096, as has the seven day rate per 100,000 population which fell from 423.4 to 400.3.
Elsewhere in Greater Manchester, all boroughs continue to see a slight drop in seven day totals, albeit at a high rate. Cases in Manchester during the latest seven day data period were 1,892 (down from 1,989), with a rate of 342.2 (down from 359.8), followed by Bolton with 1,187 (down from 1,240), with a rate of 412.8 (down from 431.2), and Oldham 1,187 (down from 1,259), with a rate of 500.6 (down from 531)..
Wigan has 1,255 (down from 1,351), with a rate of 381.9 (down from 411.1), Tameside 835 (down from 854), with a rate of 368.7 (down from 377.1), Rochdale 1,063 (down from 1,113), with a rate of 477.9 (down from 500.4), Stockport 870 (down from 932), with a rate of 296.5 (down from 317.6), Bury 783 (down from 851), with a rate of 410 (down from 445.6), and Trafford 684 (down from 733), with a rate of 288.2 (down from 308.8).
There have been four new virus-related deaths announced by Salford Royal Hospital. The latest data shows that there were four COVID-19 deaths in Salford care homes and two at home in the week of 6th November and registered up to 14th November. In the week to 15th November, four people from care homes diagnosed with COVID-19 were taken to Salford Royal Hospital.
Meanwhile, ace Salford artist, Philip Westcott, is currently exhibiting in an online Art of Isolation exhibition and features in an accompanying Art of Isolation book containing highlights of the online exhibition plus lockdown stories, to raise money for Lancashire Age UK.*
Phil has been capturing the sights of lockdown since the pandemic began, in his own verite style, and says "As an artist I have always been interested in capturing images of everyday people going about their lives. With the recent pandemic things have changed a great deal and I have been fascinated to see these changes.
"When looking for topics to paint, one of my friends posted a picture of his daughter and another nurse in their scrubs at Salford Royal, and this caught my attention" he explains "After asking his permission, I painted this image. I was then interested in capturing other images connected to the way people adapted to living through the lockdown regulations and completed a series of paintings.
"2020 has seen many of my organised events, such as three art gallery exhibitions cancelled but fortunately, other opportunities online became available" he adds "One of these was an opportunity to participate in Age Concern's Art of Isolation where people could send in paintings, poetry etc with their response to lockdown.
"I sent in four of my paintings for the website and the image of the nurses was selected for the book, which has just been published" he says "This book will now be a testament to these difficult times and how people in the region have coped with it, and hopefully will raise some money for the charity."
