Salford has 160 new confirmed cases of coronavirus bringing the cumulative total to 10,769, up from the previous 10,609. While the daily case number of 160 is up from the previous day's 111 cases, the seven day average of cases decreased from 1,521 to 1,464, and the seven day rate per 100,000 population also decreased from 587.6 to 565.6.
Salford cases are certainly reducing from highs of over two hundred per day recently, so it appears that numbers are levelling off or decreasing but only time will tell. And it seems like it's the same story in Greater Manchester where borough areas numbers and rates are all falling everywhere bar Rochdale...
Cases in Manchester during the latest seven day data period were 2,441 (down from 2,497), with a rate of 441.5 (down from 451.7), followed by Bolton with 1,551 (down from 1,559), with a rate of 539.4 (down from 542.2) and Oldham 1,842 (down from 1,848, with a rate of 776.9 (down from 779.4).
Wigan has 1,990 (down from 2,060), with a rate of 605.5 (down from 626.8), Tameside 1,087 (down from 1,102), with a rate of 479.9 (down from 486.5), Rochdale 1,330 (up from 1,315), with a rate of 598 (up from 591.2), Stockport 1,130 (down from 1,170), with a rate of 385.1 (down from 398.7), Bury 1,124 (down from 1,139), with a rate of 588.5 (down from 596.4), and Trafford 934 (down from 962), with a rate of 393.5 (down from 405.3).
There have been four new virus-related deaths announced by Salford Royal Hospital.
Meanwhile, Salford City Council has revealed that almost two thousand free school meals were claimed by residents during the half term school holidays, at a cost of around £20,000. The Council plans to extend the scheme over Christmas and the Spirit of Salford Network launched a JustGiving fundraising page to help out – but it has so far raised just £1,190 of a £20,000 target from 36 people – to donate click here
