Star date: 28th October 2020 SALFORD HAS 293 NEW VIRUS CASES Salford has 293 new confirmed coronavirus cases bringing the cumulative total to 7,820. It's the highest recorded number of new daily cases since the start of the pandemic, although Pillar 1 and 2 cases have only been counted jointly since the start of July. Salford has had 1,525 cases of coronavirus during the last seven days of data, with a case rate per 100,000 of 589.2. There has been one new virus-related death announced by Salford Royal Hospital. Salford has 293 new confirmed coronavirus cases bringing the cumulative total to 7,820, up from the previous day's 7,527. It is the highest daily total of cases since pandemic records began in the city, although Pillar 1 and 2 test results have only been counted jointly since 1st July. Over the last seven days of data, Salford has had 1,525 virus cases, and has a case rate per 100,000 population of 589.2. Elsewhere in Greater Manchester, cases in Manchester during the latest seven day data period were 2,754 (up from 2,690), with a rate of 498.1 (up from 486). Other boroughs stats are Bolton 1,548 (up from 1,520), with a rate of 538.3 (up from 528.6), Oldham 1,500 (up from 1,413), with a rate of 632.6 (up from 595.9), Wigan 2,004 (up from 1,882), with a rate of 609.7 (up from 572.6)), Tameside 1,073 (up from 1,007), with a rate of 473.7 Up from 444.6), Rochdale 1,317 (up from 1,280), with a rate of 592.1 (up from 575.5), Stockport 1,105 (up from 1,056), with a rate of 376.6 (up from 359.9), Bury 986 (up from 982), with a rate of 516.3 (up from 514.2), and Trafford 1,012 (up from 947), with a rate of 426.4 (up from 399). There has been one new virus-related death announced by Salford Royal Hospital. | @howard you are correct, everyone is being tested now which is why there is an increase, most people don’t even know they have it at all. An actor died the other day, press reported he died of COVID because he tested positive the day before he died. His family said he’d had a heart attack. Was this a covid death? No. Bobby Ball died aged 76, of covid, again, take his age, weight and underlying health conditions into account, and the common flu may have killed him. It’s sad but very true. People die each day but now every death is ‘COVID’. It’s just easier for them to say that, and keeps everyone in fear. |

| I'm tired of saying this, but say it again I must. Don't worry about covid. It's just one of those things. So long as you're not over 80, and are not an obese citizen, then chances are you'll be alright. My advice to my fellow Salfordians is this. Try not watching the news for a week or reading about covid in the online papers ... Then during that week go out, and be mindful ... and while you're being mindful, look around and make some observations ... observations such as, is what I am personally witnessing, tallying with the media scare stories? Just stop panicking, people. By all means wear a mask, and sanitize your hands fifty times per day ... you're even free to be like those motorists who wear a mask when there is only themself in their car .... but just stop panicking. Take some heart from the late, the great Nick Ross, Crimewatch UK host, who used to end every monthly show by telling the morbid bastards who enjoyed watching murder reconstructions to - not have nightmares. |

| As we are getting so many cases recorded each day it would be nice to know where all these cases are coming from.
If we know places where they are coming from then we can avoid them but if we do not know then we cannot.
It seems to me that the more we wear masks the worse it gets. Look at other countries. |
