Beauty In The Community was founded during the COVID-19 lockdown as a way of giving something back to the community – by making people look and feel good, even if they can't afford to be pampered.
"It's newly formed and we want to come out and visit local communities and actually perform treatments, services and workshops for those in need" says the company's Carina "We do nails, make up and more, and it's not just for women, there's a lot of wellbeing work and we also link up with the mental health group Andy's Man Club.
"We can go out to where people feel happier, so we can be part of whatever is going on in the community" she adds "We make people look and feel good, so it's not just the cosmetic side, there's also the wellbeing, the psychological effect of what we do which helps bring people together."
Beauty in the Community is a community interest company, separate from the Manchester International Beauty Academy, in which Carina also has an interest..."We want to be able to raise our own funds by doing events and applying to fund it" she says "We wouldn't expect people in need to pay."
With COVID-19 blocking a lot of things going on in the community, she is optimistic about the company's future..."It's not the best start but it will improve" she says "We can do work with young people, and right now we can help the unemployed by training them or giving them treatment."
