Salford has 64 new coronavirus cases, bringing the cumulative total to 2,417, up from the previous day's 2,353.
Elsewhere in Greater Manchester, cases in Manchester rose to 5,479 (up from 5,335), followed by Oldham with 3,514 (up from 3,455), Bolton 3,691 (up from 3,589), Rochdale 2,727 (up from 2,685), Wigan 2,727 (up from 2,678), Tameside 2,461 (up from 2,411), Stockport 2,307 (up from 2,267), Trafford 1,954 (up from 1,924) and Bury 2,022 (up from 1,953).
There have been no new virus-related deaths announced by Salford Royal Hospital.
Meanwhile, Public Health England's latest Local Authority Watchlist has Salford way down from last week at 18th worst area in the country for the virus, with a weekly case rate of 88.8 per 100,000 population from specimens taken during 4th-10th September. The latest data, up to 16th September, shows that Salford's rate is now 100.9 per 100,000 population.
The Public Health England coronavirus weekly surveillance report based on data between 3rd and 16th September shows a growth in cases in Lower Super Output Areas throughout all wards in the city compared to the previous fortnight (see map), while a graph of daily positivity test numbers shows a level almost the same as in May (see main graphic).
