The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Salford have grown to 242, up by 16 on the previous day's 226 cases. Manchester still has the highest number of cases in Greater Manchester with 323, followed by Stockport with 246, Trafford 222, Oldham 216, Wigan 185, Bolton 170, Rochdale 167, Tameside 162 and Bury 138.
Salford Royal Hospital listed no deaths on Sunday 5th April, the latest recording date, but that might be because the deaths were not reported on that day.
As the lockdown continues, more help is coming online with teachers trade union, the National Education Union, or NEU, launching a dedicated website for parents and carers which includes advice on exams and assessment, learning outside of school, child well-being and mental health, SEND support and communication with schools.
The NEU is recommending resources to parents to support home learning, while Union members teachers and TAs are also providing tips and advice via the site on how parents can support their child to continue to engage in learning during the school shutdown.
"In these difficult times many parents and carers are struggling to make sense of what home learning should look like" says Kevin Courtney, Joint General Secretary of the NEU "Many also have concerns about their children and young people's well being and also what can be expected from this year's exams and assessment.
"The NEU has covered many of the main questions and concerns being raised" he adds "We hope this will give families some clarity on what they and their children could be doing and also hopefully alleviate some concerns. This is not education as we know it but headteachers and teachers, working alongside Government are doing all they can to ensure children and their families are not unnecessarily stressed or anxious."
