51 patients have sadly died of coronavirus at Salford Royal Hospital since the first reported case on 17th March up until 5pm on 3rd April. In the North West the total is 462. These figures do not include those who have passed away in care homes or outside a hospital setting.
NHS England has also produced figures of the age ranges of the 3,939 people who have died of the virus nationally up to that date, with those over 80 being the big majority with 2,071.
1,549 people aged between 60 and 79 have also died of the virus, with 282 people aged between 40 and 59, 32 aged between 20 and 39, and five of those aged 0 to 19 years of age.
Meanwhile, confirmed coronavirus cases in Salford increased by just one on the previous day, bringing the current total to 191.
Manchester now has 252 cases, followed by Stockport with 193 cases, Trafford 173, Oldham 152, Tameside 129, Rochdale 127, Wigan 116, Bolton 109 and Bury 104.
These Greater Manchester figures compare favourably with other areas in the country – Birmingham now has the highest number of confirmed cases with 1,138, followed by Hampshire 809, Surrey 736 and Sheffield 730.
