SALFORD LABOUR COUNCILLOR IN FURTHER SOCIAL MEDIA INDISCRETION

Star date: 23rd February 2020

COUNCILLOR WHO NEEDS AN ASTERISK PERMANENTLY ABOVE HIS HEAD

Senior Labour Councillor, Mike McCusker, already in hot water over his 'Tory pigs' comment last week, could find himself again falling foul of the Salford Monitoring Officer, as a new social media post has emerged with him swearing like a trouper at Irish Fine Gael politicians.

While the Salford Councillor has apologised over what he calls 'Pig Gate', there was "No apologies to you t***s" this time!"

Dear oh dear, if ever a councillor needed a permanent asterisk over his head it's Councillor Mike McCusker, a senior member of Salford Council who is Executive Support for Planning, Housing and Sustainable Development.

McCusker is already being investigated after reports to the Council's monitoring officer for his 'Tory pigs' comment on social media last week.* Now a new post on his social media timeline has emerged with a photo showing Irish Fine Gael leader, Leo Varadkar, after he resigned following the country's election. The accompanying comment states...

"I may have offended Fine Gail (sic) and Leo Varadkar with this post. That was my intention you Blue Shirt bastards..."

While McCusker offered his "fullest apologies" for what he calls "Pig Gate", this time his post about Fine Gael adds "No apologies to you t***s..."

Whether this sets a good example for elected members in Salford will be decided by the Monitoring Officer...

18 months ago, when McCusker was elected a councillor for Eccles in a local by-election, Labour Party leadership contender and Salford and Eccles MP, Rebecca Long Bailey, wrote on Twitter that he would "do Eccles proud"...hmmmm.

Salford Council's 'Social media policy and guidelines for councillors' clearly states: "You must not...Publish content in an abusive manner or in any way which can be seen as unacceptable behaviour..."

Looks like Salford City Council's Standards Committee is going to be very busy over the next few weeks!

Any chance of Mr McCusker devoting a little bit of time to doing something about Eccles town centre's endless spiral of decline? You know! That once reasonably nice place that has been turned into a hideous human sump-largely by Salford Labour. Or has he given up and decided the politics of a foreign country are a more worthy recipient of his wisdom, time and sagacity. To be fair this is the current state of the Labour Party from the bottom feeders to the political pygmies aspiring to be leader. They are spending their time and energy on stuff that none of the rest of us are interested in. Ireland ? You're having me on !!! If you're more interested in irrelevance like this please stand down and make way for someone who will focus on the stuff local people are bothered about. You know - English stuff.

Felse has already played the "I was sexually abused as a child " card, the "I'm a homosexual " card and the "I'm a Jew" card. I dont think even Mr Felse would stoop to to level of claiming Irish ancestry though!

SALFORD STAR – 15 YEARS OF ATTITUDE AND LOVE XXX

The Salford Star closes tonight after 15 years of giving the community a voice, holding power to account and bigging up all the great things that have happened in the city.

Thousands of people in Salford have been involved in one way or another with the Star and we'd like to thank them all. Salford is a very special city and, hopefully, we've given it a very special community publication.

SALFORD STAR CLOSURE: HOW SALFORD COUNCIL TRIED TO BLOCK AND DISCREDIT THE STAR

Star date: 17th May 2021

THREATS, LIES, FEAR AND LOATHING IN SALFORD...

Today, the Salford Star shuts down but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. Here the Salford Star editor, Stephen Kingston, looks at how democracy perished badly under the Salford mayoral system.

A WHIFF OF FREEDOM AS RESTRICTIONS ARE EASED

Salford has 7 new coronavirus cases, down from the previous day's 14, while the seven day rate per 100,000 population now stands at 30.1, down from 30.9. There have been no new virus-related deaths announced by Salford Royal Hospital.

Today sees restrictions eased and the first whiff of freedom in over a year. It's also the final coronavirus bulletin from the Salford Star which is closing. Here we look back over 14 months of the pandemic and the absolute communication failings of Salford City Council and its City Mayor.

THEY WILL TRY TO DISCREDIT YOU...TO BLOCK YOU, TO SHUT YOU DOWN

We are almost at the final closure of the Salford Star but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. In South America they just blow up the offices of journalists that don't play the game. Here they just financially assassinate you...

SALFORD STAR CLOSURE – GUY GRIFFITHS ON THE HUMAN COST OF PATHFINDER DEMOLITIONS

Star date: 16th May 2021

THE HUMAN COST OF REGENERATION

The Griffiths brothers of Higher Broughton are kind of infamous as the only people to be forcefully evicted from their house as part of the Pathfinder 'housing market renewal' project during the first decade of the 21st Century.

Here, Guy Griffiths, now living in 'sunny' north Wales and one of the main inspirations for the Salford Star's creation, writes the second part his own personal view of the Government project that devastated communities throughout Central Salford.
