Red Flag Walks' Michael Herbert has been researching and writing about women's history for many years, with published work including Up Now Brave Women; Manchester's Radical women 1819-1918 and for the sake of the women who to come after: Manchester's Radical Women 1914-1945.
From Tuesday 3rd March, Michael will be leading a ten week day course on the history of radical women; from Women Levellers to the Suffragettes, which will include the following episodes...
Women in the English Revolution in the 1640s and 1650s and their role in the Leveller movement; Mary Wollstonecraft and the radical movement of the 1790s; Women rioters in 1812; Peterloo; Women abolitionists who were against the slave trade; Manchester Female Republicans; Owenite Socialism; Chartism; women in the trade unions; Women and Socialism; and Votes for Women!
The course begins on Tuesday 3rd March and lasts for ten weeks, running 11am to 1pm, except on 10th March and 24th March when it will run 12.30pm to 2.30pm.
