WILL SALFORD RESIDENTS GET CHANCE TO GRILL ELECTION CANDIDATES?

Star date: 27th November 2019 ONE SALFORD TELEVISED DEBATE, ONE POSSIBLE WINTON DEBATE Will Salford residents get a chance to grill candidates standing in the General Election on 12th December? As far as the Salford Star is aware, there's nothing public happening in Worsley and Eccles South, nor Blackley and Broughton. Tomorrow, Salford University students are livestreaming a debate that's happening behind closed doors for Salford and Eccles candidates, but Labour's Rebecca Long-Bailey won't be attending. There is also the possibility of a Winton debate on 4th December. Full details here...

Ssshhh...Is there a General Election happening in Salford? The Salford Star knows of no public debates in the Worsley and Eccles South, and Blackley and Broughton constituencies. Meanwhile, tomorrow, Thursday 28th November, University of Salford students are holding a debate for candidates to which the general public are not invited but can submit questions (click here). Four candidates are appearing - Bryan Blears for the Green Party, Matt Mickler for the Brexit Party; Jake Overend for the Lib Dems and Attika Choudhary for the Conservatives – but the Labour Party's Rebecca Long-Bailey won't be attending as her husband is undergoing surgery. The debate will be broadcast live on the Quays TV YouTube at 3:30pm hosted by Joe Kelly who will be asking the questions – click here Details are also emerging of a possible public debate at Winton Social Club on 4th December with Bryan Blears, Jake Overend and Matt Mickler apparently confirmed. But there's been no publicity at all on this yet.

You can't blame us Dole People for spending our dole however we do. One day you might end up on the Jam Roll, and I'd never preach to you, telling you not to buy that snide rolling tobbaco from the local Polish shop that's really owned by Kurds. I'm not that kind of guy. I'm a live and let live kind of guy. You know. What you said was partially right. In today's world, where the corporation is King, most workers get peanuts. While the high-flyers reap the rewards. But it doesn't have to be like that. These workers could get unionised, and demand a pay increase, and go on strike if needs be.
And with regard JSA, it isn't really enough. I'll tell you something, regardless of all the lies, there's about two million unemployed people out there. Now if these largely apathetic and insular fellow dolites could get unionised, and practice a bit of civil disobedience, public sit ins, mass expropriations from the supermarket corporate giants, then I gurantee you, the Guv, even a wicked right-wing government such as the one led by Donkey Johnson, would go easy on the unemployed and probably increase JSA to a hundred and twenty quid per week. Sadly it won't happen because there's no solidarity in this country anymore. We're too insular now. Everyone out for themselves (like you Darren) with an I'm Alright Jack attitude ... But in France, it would happen over there. |

| The national living wage for over 25s is £8.21. What is a good wage for a normal man in Salford.. Aldi pay there workers £8.50 a hour and rises by 50p a hour each year to about £11 a hour, there do WORK hard,there are always busy.. Psco officers (toy police) get paid 19grand a year, just for walking around saying "hello" to people,a great job.. A MacDonalds store manager gets paid £29grand a year for taking SHIT of the public and staff.. A traffic warden is on 18grand a year, his job is to get harassment and grief and SPAT at all day by the Joe public.. Bus drivers get paid £9 to £11 a hour to get stuck in traffic and get abuse from passengers and management.. People on JSA (giro) get paid as well, £72 a week for doing basically jack shit... Also. Whoever comes into POWER on 12December, has gotta give nurses,teachers etc MORE pay. |

Putting in that you're a debt collector, and probably trying to give off the impression that you're similar to Vinnie Jones's tough guy, Chris, the debt collector from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Shame on you. Shame on you that you, in your bovine smugness, feel the need to boast about doing a 'job' that most people would find deplorable. I'd feel sorry for you, but I can't. I always struggle to tolerate stupidity, so I just can't pity you. But on a lighter note, I've just come back from a visit to Eccles, and I managed to see Rob Lever's paintings in the shop at Eccles Precinct. They're very good. Well worth the money. If you had a bit of soul Darren, you'd go out and buy one with the money that you 'earn' from collecting 'debts' from cash strapped single mothers. |

| Im not voting on 12 december, Ive got better things to do in my life. How much wages should a Working class 47years old man from Salford driving around Salford being a debt collector be on? Doing nearly a 5Ohour week, I earn £45O to £500 a week after tax at least I'm not scrounging on JSA £72(giro) a week. I bet Rossi stands outside MacDonalds on cross lane being a layabout all day looking inside the bins for food. He should get a job..merry Xmas. |

People died so that other people would have the right to vote. One last thing Darren. Years ago, I was in McDonald's on the corner of Cross Lane/Chapel Street. I was having a couple of cheeseburgers and several McFlurry's. I got talking with a girl who worked there back then. She was Bulgarian and had a degree in politics from Manchester University. I was trying to impress her with my pidgin Russian. In English I asked her what good a degree in politics was, and wouldn't she have been better off getting one in Media Studies or Sports Science. And she said no. I can't remember all of what she said, but the gist of it was that politics encompassed almost everything and in a modern society was the foundation of everything ... And you know what, that young Bulgarian from Plovdiv was right.
Anyway Darren, I'll close this by once more stating that you are an absolute disgrace. Shame on you. |

| I never VOTED in the 30years I should have voted, Im NOT a politics man,there all bullshiters and dickheads to me. I was brought up on council estate for 30years. Im not in council house now, Im in a nice 3bed house. Im hard working for my family,I DONT smoke/drink and I put the odd bet on. Im a normal Salford man,I dont go holiday to benidorm. Maybe 20 years ago, but that’s not much more than living wage these days. You get more at Aldi! Now if you would have said £500 per day, I would maybe be impressed. You remember him, don't you, the man that you were crowing joyously about getting beaten up by a couple of "the lads" in Forest Bank. Anyway I challenge you to read this story. If you don't have the necessary levels of concentration, then you can miss the parts about homeless artist, Clive Dalrymple, who died sleeping rough, and just get on with the enlightening portions about Stuart Potts.

| @ROSSI - So I'm vicous right wing rabble? I have empathy for real homeless people, but for morons like Mr Potts I gave nothing but utter contempt, he's had all the help possible but insists on the 'bums' life and that is a total proven fact.
I see people on the dole as a drain on society, there are certain few who deserve to be getting government money not to work (and sadly from personal experience I know better than most) but in the main there is an underclass in the UK who milk the teet of government hand outs.
I'd reply to rest of your rant Rossi but quite frankly it's utter rubbish, makes wonder if you have issues that prevent you from working? |

When Im sat at home in my nice 3bed house with a big front/back garden and the news comes on about the BREXIT/EU crap, I turn it off. Ive got better things to do in my life like spending my £450 to £500 a week I get from working HARD on the hacienda classical at castlefield in July. Its only £45, people on £72 JSA like ROSSI cant afford it because there eat there Ringos crisps all day in there luxury apartment,magnolia court.. They’re 2 sides of the same coin taking orders from those above them (financial supporters, bankers, corporations, trade unionists etc) only bringing change incrementally when the powers that be allow it. Or, when there’s massive public pressure to do so, though this is rare (poll tax for example). We’re being repeatedly screwed by the political system and many people’s political ignorance (on all sides). I have zero faith in these parties or this political system at a National or local level. And before you ask me “What’s your idea then?!” I’m not a 100% sure, but it certainly isn’t this broken and necrotic system. |

| Not on any level down playing RLB's husband undergoing surgery (hope it goes well) but can't see her attending if he wasn't, whenever you watch her she's a total car crash of Abbott proportions, you only had to watch her interview on the left leaning BBC about warm homes for all and her total lack of facts and figures to see what I mean. | It's double trouble in the Salford area. Politics in Salford is stagnant to the point of fossilized to begin with. There is NO prospect of change locally. You can safely put your house on Labour winning the three seats that cover its boundaries without the slightest prospect of losing a nano second of sleep. The endless and unenthusiastic reaffirmation of Labour will happen with metronomic certainty. It should be about Brexit and make people think about how they use their vote. But after years of mass Pavlovian conditioning the Salford electorate will vote Labour as usual. Years of no Labour no free stuff , no Labour no free stuff have delivered the perfect voting machine and expunged any room for independent thinking. And then bolt on the national mood of indifference, frustration and torpor and it's zzzzzzzzzzzzz. Turn out's going to be even worse than normal . That's another certainty. |
