Today in Manchester thousands of people rallied in Cathedral Gardens to 'Defend Democracy' and 'Resist The Parliament Shutdown'. Hundreds of home-made banners slated Prime Minister Boris Johnson, from 'No-One Voted For This', to 'We Don't Want A Dictatorship'...

From this rally, demonstrators marched down Cross Street to Albert Square for a further rally addressed by many speakers, including health worker Karen Reissmann, who laid into the Tory Government...

"When they don't listen to us about the NHS, about education, about homelessness, you end up with more and more anger across the country" she said "But one of the things they've tried to do since the beginning is to blame everybody apart from themselves..."

Meanwhile, Paul Mason addressed the issue of proroguing Parliament directly..."We are now the insurrection, we are the revolt it's not them" he said to loud cheers "...I've heard it many times over the last few days; 'Can we really win?'"... 'Yes' the demonstrators responded emphatically.

After the rally, many continued marching to Deansgate to show solidarity with the Extinction Rebellion* four day campaign against climate change...

The protests continue on Monday at 6pm when Jeremy Corbyn is expected to address a further rally against Boris Johnson and his Government's attitude to Brexit at Manchester Central...

Mr white, I know, it’s just a gift I’m blessed with. I can smell a lefty from a thousand yards away, it might help if they took a bath once in a while. The best way the police could have cleared those trouble makers away, was to throw bars of soap at them.

How clever of Mr Brexit to be able to assess the IQ of an individual on appearance alone. Overnight, testing could be made redundant.

We are under attack by the Tories, the liar Boris and most seriously by changes to our climate. We can not sit at home and just mutter about it. We need to get out and talk to our neighbours; make sure they understand the dire consequences of the changes that will come. Our world is changing and we need to be prepared. Support our young people on the 20th Sept. with the Global Climate Change Protest they have initiated. They really do grasp the seriousness of what is happening.

Can you seriously say, that if you look at the pictures that any of those people in that crowd have got a IQ above that of Diane Abbott or Rebeca long Bailey. Holy shite, you look at that crowd and think, just how shite our education system is to turn out such, well all you can say is, if scientists want to find the missing link, that crowd has it in abundance.

SALFORD STAR – 15 YEARS OF ATTITUDE AND LOVE XXX

The Salford Star closes tonight after 15 years of giving the community a voice, holding power to account and bigging up all the great things that have happened in the city.

Thousands of people in Salford have been involved in one way or another with the Star and we'd like to thank them all. Salford is a very special city and, hopefully, we've given it a very special community publication.

SALFORD STAR CLOSURE: HOW SALFORD COUNCIL TRIED TO BLOCK AND DISCREDIT THE STAR

Star date: 17th May 2021

THREATS, LIES, FEAR AND LOATHING IN SALFORD...

Today, the Salford Star shuts down but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. Here the Salford Star editor, Stephen Kingston, looks at how democracy perished badly under the Salford mayoral system.

A WHIFF OF FREEDOM AS RESTRICTIONS ARE EASED

Salford has 7 new coronavirus cases, down from the previous day's 14, while the seven day rate per 100,000 population now stands at 30.1, down from 30.9. There have been no new virus-related deaths announced by Salford Royal Hospital.

Today sees restrictions eased and the first whiff of freedom in over a year. It's also the final coronavirus bulletin from the Salford Star which is closing. Here we look back over 14 months of the pandemic and the absolute communication failings of Salford City Council and its City Mayor.

THEY WILL TRY TO DISCREDIT YOU...TO BLOCK YOU, TO SHUT YOU DOWN

We are almost at the final closure of the Salford Star but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. In South America they just blow up the offices of journalists that don't play the game. Here they just financially assassinate you...

SALFORD STAR CLOSURE – GUY GRIFFITHS ON THE HUMAN COST OF PATHFINDER DEMOLITIONS

Star date: 16th May 2021

THE HUMAN COST OF REGENERATION

The Griffiths brothers of Higher Broughton are kind of infamous as the only people to be forcefully evicted from their house as part of the Pathfinder 'housing market renewal' project during the first decade of the 21st Century.

Here, Guy Griffiths, now living in 'sunny' north Wales and one of the main inspirations for the Salford Star's creation, writes the second part his own personal view of the Government project that devastated communities throughout Central Salford.
