EIGHT INDEPENDENTS TO STAND IN SALFORD CITY COUNCIL LOCAL ELECTION

Star date: 5th April 2019 EX LABOUR COUNCILLOR AND GREEN SPACE ACTIVISTS JOIN INDEPENDENTS ALLIANCE The candidates for twenty seats in the May 2nd Salford Council local election have been announced, with eight independents standing, many within a newly formed Alliance of Independents, including ex-Labour councillor, Paul Wilson (Weaste), Saving Our Neighbourhood activist, Carol Boyce (Swinton South), and the CORE activists Darren Goulden (Irlam) and Dave Pike (Cadishead). The Conservative Party, UKIP, Greens and Labour are standing in all twenty wards, with ex LibDem Leader, Norman Owen standing for the Labour Party in Worsley. The local election for Salford City Council is to take place on Thursday 2nd May, with voting between 7am and 10pm. The full list of candidates has now been announced, with the Conservative Party, Labour Party, UKIP and Green Party standing in all twenty seats. New on the block is the Alliance of Independents, which is fielding four candidates: ex-Labour Councillor, Paul Wilson, who resigned very publicly slating 'bullies', 'factions', 'vanity projects' and 'moral corruption' in the Party, is standing in Weaste; Saving Our Neighbourhood activist, Carol Boyce, who has stood up against planning atrocities in Campbell Road, is standing in Swinton South. And the two CORE candidates who ran Labour close at the last local election are standing for the Alliance in Irlam (Darren Goulden) and Cadishead (Dave Pike). Other Independents not within the Alliance are Mary Ferrer (Claremont), Joe O'Neill (Pendlebury), former LibDem candidate Stef Lorenz (Eccles) and Alex Haida (Ordsall). The LibDems attempt to make a comeback in Salford, fielding nine candidates, while the Socialist Alternative is running two candidates, Dane Yates in Langworthy and Sally Griffiths in Eccles. The Women's Equality Party is also standing in Eccles, with candidate Annie Wood. Kersal sees Martin Kenyon running for the new Veterans and Peoples Party, while The For Britain Movement stands in Langworthy via Neil James. Langworthy will see seven candidates on the ballot paper, while Eccles sees eight candidates. Fewest choices are on offer in Barton, Boothstown and Ellenbrook, Broughton, Little Hulton, Walkden North and Winton, with four candidates (Green, UKIP, Labour and Conservative). | I am a staunch Brexiteer.To Brexit means leave, I can only say, that I suspect that Norman might be a brexit man, despite being a liberal dem for many years. I could be wrong.Like I said before, Labour do not want Norman elected, that is why he was sent to fight Robin Garido in worsley, and Stalins nanny mad maddy was given the easy job of weaste and seedley. Norman should go back to what he was good at, causing shit for labour. It was that tosser Clegg who ballsed it up for the lib dems, not Norman ,Mary, and Joe. |

| Someone looking for the independent manifestos, I had to smile are any parties manifestos worth the paper there written on. Vote Labour in Salford for affordable housing, Transparency, jobs, clean air, well we all no they went in the bin. So why vote independent? to get a group of people that will ask question and hold bloody Labour to account. |

| I cannot believe that a former counciillior who lost their seat in Kersal, because she simply did nothing, was never seen and Iwas always moaning about meetings at the civic, the only time we get to see her is when there was a big event on and there was free booze and food that’s why she lost her seat , now unbelievably she standing in Ordsall , luckily all my family are based there and I told them not to vote for this person and they are telling their friends she’s an absolute waste of public money and simply does not care |

| So the yearly charade known as local elections has come round again has it? Let me make a prediction . A couple of wards might change hands . And that ,at the most, will be yer lot. Same old same old. The stagnant political pool known as the City of Salford will otherwise remain undisturbed. If the creation of the modern City of Salford was about local democracy and genuine representation that it's failed for every single year since it came into existence . And will carry on failing forever from what i can see. Large chunks of Salford have diddly squat in common with other large chunks of Salford. If it was 1973 again you'd lump 'Salford' in with Manchester and the other districts would be part of other boroughs . Then at least someone would get some proper local democracy. Many metropolitan boroughs are little more than modern day rotten boroughs . And Salford is one of the most egregious examples . PR needs to be introduced or decision making devolved more locally to get proper representation. Otherwise the whole patently unfit for use shebang known as the City of Salford should be confined to electoral oblivion as far as i'm concerned. |
