'BUY A HOUSE AND YOU WILL SUFFER' SAY CAMPBELL ROAD CAMPAIGNERS

This morning, Bellway Homes launched sales for its Campbell Road Swinton development, now known as The Brackens, at its offices within The Works on Green Lane in Monton...and the Saving Our Neighbourhood campaign group was there too, picketing and protesting.

"We're here to say to Bellway 'We need a second access' and to prospective buyers that 'You're going to need a second access too'" said Carol Boyce of the group "We're all on the same page here...the people who buy the houses will be suffering..."

Local community campaigners from Campbell Road in Swinton were out in force this morning protesting and picketing Bellway Homes' sales office within The Works on Green Lane, Monton.

Bellway launched sales for its Campbell Road development, now branded The Brackens, today at its Monton complex and residents from the Saving Our Neighbourhood group mounted a peaceful protest aimed at both Bellway and those looking to buy houses at the development which have a price tag of between £389,995 and £404,995.

"We're here to impress upon anyone, including prospective buyers, that having a single access does not work" Carol Boyce from Saving Our Neighbourhood explained "When there's another 241 houses there it's going to be even worse than it is now, and it's already gridlocked in the morning.

"We're here to say to Bellway that 'We need a second access', and to prospective buyers that 'You're going to need a second access too'" she added "We're all on the same page here; Bellway can't keep building developments in situations where the local existing community suffer four years of building and then the people who buy the houses will be suffering."

Today's action was one of many launched against both Bellway and Salford City Council over the last year, the campaigners believing that planning permission should never have been granted for Campbell Road with just one access leading into the site of 241 houses down a really quiet road.

"A woman who actually lives in The Works came out earlier and asked us what we were doing, and said that they are suffering too as they only have a single access and have problems trying to get out onto Green Lane in the morning" Carol recounted "She said 'I totally support what you're doing'..."
