John Nicholas appears live at The Eagle Inn on Thursday 21st March, and it's a great chance to catch a truly original live performer in one of the area's premier venues. Using only a guitar and pedals, he creates layered and intriguing tunes.
We caught him last year supporting Speak, Brother at the Kings Arms. It proved to be one of our favourite events of the year as he warmed the crowd up perfectly for the rootsy headliners before joining them for the encore.
John contorted and juggled his way through complex backing vocals with rhythms and gorgeous melodies. His set was spirited and soulful, and now he returns to Salford with his own headline show. Expect an energetic collection of tunes from his back catalogue with the addition of newer works, including new single Free which is out this week.
Free plays to John's strengths; edgy yet accessible: it's a heartfelt track with inspiration taken from the likes of Foy Vance and John Mayer, with a sprinkling of Bon Iver.
John's songs are catchy anthems that take the listener on a skilfully created loop pedal journey. Having had a stellar 2018 that included winning Firestone's Road to the Main Stage he went on to perform across the UK on two headline tours. The word is spreading quickly with John receiving radio airplay cementing him as one of the country's most exciting up-and-coming artists.
Don't miss out on a multi-talented, multi-tasking act...
