The campaign to Save The Grange, Salford's only residential home for disabled children, has received incredible support from the city's public, with almost 3,000 signatures on print and online petitions against Salford Council's determination to close the centre.
Now stars of Salford Red Devils have also backed the campaign, posing with families and supporters for a special photo.
Salford Council wants to close The Grange to save £300,000, despite finding the same amount of money for extra street cleaning and despite spending over £2million this year on empty offices owned by the Legal and General Pension Fund (see previous Salford Star articles click here and click here).
"These children and children of the future will not have a home to be cared for in the city in which they were born" states the Save the Grange campaign "The Council will search for places in another borough and send them away which we say is unacceptable. We feel this decision goes against the Mayor and Council's pledge to support and protect the city's most vulnerable."
A Public Meeting has been called for Saturday 27th May, 10:30am, at Swinton Moorside Cricket Club where there will be a presentation by the campaign, plus guest speakers.
