Unfortunately, unlike every other candidate, the Labour Party's red hot favourite for City Mayor, Paul Dennett, has declined to talk to the Salford Star about why he wants to be Mayor of Salford. They say that you can stick a red rosette on a donkey and people will vote for it. So here, in a Salford Star exclusive, we interview that ass...
Salford Star: Paul Dennett has pledged that "I will be directly accessible to party members and the public...My door will always be open...". Yet he slams it in the face of local community journalists before he even gets elected. Do you think his pledge means anything? Donkey: Neigh!
Salford Star: Salford Council has recently changed its policy, kicking an estimated 7,000 people off its housing waiting list. Indeed, the Council admits that "most applicants have little chance of ever being re-housed". However, last summer, Dennett, as a `low housing priority' single male, obtained a social rent flat in Albion Towers - run by the Windsor Albion Co-operative of which he, as a councillor, was a board member. Do you think there might have been anything dodgy about this?

Salford Star: Paul Dennett has been a senior Assistant Mayor throughout the reign of sitting City Mayor Ian Stewart. During this period, Stewart has made cuts to services for the most vulnerable people in Salford, done dodgy deals with Salford rugby club, pushed £millions into prestige projects like the £4,000 a week fountains in Greengate and the £19million RHS Garden in Worsley, plus loads more. Yet Dennett has never spoken out against, or opposed, Ian Stewart in any of his actions. Do you think he, as Mayor, will make any difference to the way Salford Council is run?

Salford Star: One of Paul Dennett's endorses is Councillor John Warmisham, who states that the Assistant Mayor "had to make some horrifically hard decisions when it has come to making cuts to council services...and he has not shirked that responsibility". Do you think Paul Dennett will stop the cuts, or even oppose them properly – or will it be more of the same for Salford people? Donkey: Hee Haw!
Salford Star: Paul Dennett claims to be a supporter of Jeremy Corbyn. Do you think Jeremy Corbyn would have acted in the same ways that Paul Dennett has acted over the last four years?

| Now I know why councillors Cohen an d Ann Marie Humphies were so quite along with Steve Ord when it came to private landlords, no problems them being landlords but never spoke out of turn for the hell we have to put up with nightmare neighbours ..defo no vote for labour |

| Dennett was my neighbour where he lived as a tenant in bed sit accommodation owned by Councillors Steve Coen and Councillor Anne Humphries both capitalist landlords. Found Dennett as faceless lacking gravitas . |

| I agree with SteveR. Dennet is side by side with Jeremy Corbin. Today we saw a National News point the finger at JC handling of the internal Labour Party anti-semitism problem. Unless Dennet gives a public statement about his stand on this problem we must vote him down. Salford must not allow hate. |

Assign leaflet in my letter box tonight from Dennett and Councillior Stephen Cohen-Irwell Riverside-never seen this man in years till now, as its election time ,your now licking backsides to get our vote....Dennet & Cohen will be a disaster to the ward and city, the days of I'm Labour till I die is disappearing fast....people in the city were lied to about the mayor, as this year was a referendum ,to ask do we really need a mayor,where is it, as usualLabour run council are very corrupt in everything they do,
Listed buildings gone, Dock cranes gone, 3 week bin collections coming in, streets full of rubbishy, no councillors to be seen,no,community involvement, councillors pay up,services cur, spend £££££ on mayor booklet,housing stock sold. Dennet pushed to front of housing list, enough said can go on for hours |

| I will certainly not be voting for Councillor Dennet. This man promised to make the "Saford Housing Allocation Policy" more "Equality Friendly", in an article that featured me, in the Salford Star, dated the 15th of October 2014. This so called councillor promised to stop enforcing the over 55 age banding on properties for the vulnerable and disabled who live within Salford. Did he do what he promised. "No he did not". It is still the policy of the "Salford Housing Allocation System" known as "Salford Home Search" managed by "Salix Homes" on behalf of "The Salford Council" to disallow bids on over 55 properties, if a disabled or vulnerable adult is under the age of 55 and tries to bid on an adapted / suitable property, even though the vulnerable and disabled are "Exempt" from such "Age Banding Policies". Recently a solicitor informed "Salford Homes Search" that it is a "Section 149 Breach of the Equality Act", to use a "Blanket Policy" on the "Salford Home Search Website", that restricts the "Vulnerable and Disabled" from bidding on properties for the over 55's. Did Councillor Dennet or the Labour Council take any notice, "Absolutely Not". However the Salford Star printed a story recently that featured Councillor Dennet, apparently bending the "Social Housing Allocation System", to ensure he gained a Social Housing Property. In my opinion, he simply jumped the "Salford Social Housing Waiting List" to acquire a property, with an organisation / board, to which he is a board member. So "Councillor Dennet", in my opinion, is happy to allow "The Salford Home Search Website", managed by "Salix Homes", on behalf of the "Salford Council" to "Breach the Equality of every disabled and vulnerable applicant who bids on a over 55 property within Salford", but will bend the rules, if it suits his needs. I call this "Double Standards". Therefore, in my opinion, anyone who votes for Councillor Dennet to be Mayor of Salford, will be voting for a man who's motto is "Don't do as I do", "do as I say".

| Red rose on a turd would be more apt - donkeys do have a degree of intelligence! Yes, it looks like he's counting on the old and bold Labour think they can rely on 'cos they've always voted Labour and won't change their ways and the collective apathy of the thousands who won't get their off their arses and get into the polling stations and make a difference by voting for a Mayor and councillors who will work to stop the rot and ask serious questions of those who have been complicit in the way the council has been run under Sewer Rat! |

| So funny and so very apt. The Labour Party members having been saying for years put a donkey up as a candidate in Little Hulton and it would win. How can they be proud of that!! That's how little respect they have for the good people who live there. I hope they see sense and don't vote labour just because they always have. There are more suitable candidates to choose from. The Labour Party of today is not what it used to be, sadly it is not for the people anymore, not interested in anyone but themselves. Too many in it for all the wrong reasons. The old boys club must end, it's stifling the Labour Party and this city!
As for Paul Dennett I was also one of those chosen by him wanting me to add him as a friend on Facebook. To be fair we did contact him over the proposed sale of public open space land at Hill Top Moss, was willing to listen to him if he listened to us....can't say fairer than that. Initially he did agree to, but we haven't heard from him since, not even had an explanation as to why not, just silence. Nor has the Labour MP Barbara Keeley ever agreed to meet with concerned residents that she's supposed to represent, refused point blank all requests to meet, she hasn't even had the decency to listen to our valid concerns before dismissing us. So no one from the Labour Party wants to listen to those people in Walkden North that they want to vote for them? Why would we vote for them when they totally ignore us on this issue, the one we turned to them for help on?
Anyway would rather have the donkey myself, just without a red ribbon (not of any political persuasion myself) ....at least it would listen, which is more than they do 😊 Hee haw...bring the donkey on ! |

| I am sorry for the 64% of Salford Labour Party paying members that did not vote to support picking Dennett. We now know why. Even those paying members will want to have anyone but Paul Dennett as Mayor because they know it will enable a chance to soon force a re-match. Then they get to pick a new person. I am urging Labour supporters to be brave and vote anyone but Paul Dennett, especially due to his lack of press involvement. It will be rude for me to score Dennett less than 1 out of 10. But alas I am being honest with a negative -3 out of 10 as the worst candidate I have seen in my 40 years in politics. He should withdraw now. |

| he gets a big NO from me and a big .....from ????..always in the same bed as Ian Stewart.. people of Salford time to get shot of this labour ruin council even for 1 term . let them know who's boss here .let them think on who pays their wages. Its easy to do just put your x on any name but a labour one...wont make much difference for 1 term vote them in again next time . BUT if they run rough shod on us again , vote em out again. All we ask for is openness , no more secret deals with our monies to Salford reds and the property developers. And tell them pay the 106 viability money or you don't build end of...oh and if you have to make a decision that we wont like tell us the reason 1st , we are not stupid. We will listen and applaud the rite decision even if its hard to swallow. Just be honest and stop kow towing to peel holdings Fred done and the like. |

| Steve I sent paul Dennett a message like he was asking everyone to do about 6 weeks ago and I still have not had a reply it was a simple question how would he help the most vulnerable in Salford and I have not had a reply so im asking him on here why would I want to vote for someone that just follows in his predecessors footsteps ian stewart who also could never reply to questions, and how long will it be before he blocks us all from his FB page well people out there think before you vote |

| Once again i find the article is a stunning offering a glaring inset to life under the Blackpool donkey.If you fear open dialogue with Salfords only real peoples mag then what of the future?I really find the guy strange shouting openness then closes the door,it's obvious he fears
questions that could open a can of worms. He hopes to win just by carrying his amulet the Labour rose, has for the man you would just be voting in the son of Stewart.If Langworthy is a bench mark what hope for the city. |
