THOUSANDS MARCH AGAINST BREXIT AT MANCHESTER TORY PARTY CONFERENCE

Star date: 2nd October 2017

THERESA MAY'S BREXIT 'VANDALISM' MUST BE STOPPED SAYS VINCE CABLE – AS TERRY CHRISTIAN SLATES CORBYN AND 'LEFT WING CRANKS'

While the anti-austerity march against the Tory Party Conference was meandering through Manchester city centre yesterday, thousands were also taking to the streets to demand an end to 'Brexit bollox'.

Before the anti-Brexit march, Vince Cable called for a public vote on the EU withdrawal plans, railing against Theresa May's "vandalism...we've got to stop it". Meanwhile, at the post-demo rally in Cathedral Gardens, Terry Christian, slated "left wing cranks in the Labour Party who want to destroy our country".

Yesterday, while 50,000 people marched against austerity and the Tory Party Conference being held in Manchester (see here for full report), thousands of people also took to the streets on a different route around the city centre in a #StopBrexit march, with many wearing 'Brexit bollox' stickers.

Before this cross party supported demo left All Saints Park, Vince Cable called for a public vote on the final Brext plans, as he denounced the EU withdrawal as 'vandalism'...

"The best response we can give to this vile suggestion that we're all citizens of nowhere is to say that we are proud to be British and proud to be European, and what we've got to do is to stop the destruction, the damage that Theresa May's Brexit is going to produce" he said.

Cable added that May is undermining the benefits of EU membership, which included stopping wars, providing hundreds of thousands of jobs for British workers, "civilised standards for workers and the environment" and billions of pounds for collaborative medical research...

"In this city alone there are three world class centres for graphene, the human brain and cancer research, each of which has got £1billion from the European Union and the collaboration that goes with it" he explained "It's sheer vandalism to tear up that relationship and we've got to stop it.

"Put it to the public" he concluded "'Do you want to go ahead with it or do you want an exit from Brexit?' Let the public decide. I believe the Brexit process can be stopped."

Other speakers at the rally included Central Manchester MP, Lucy Powell, A.C. Grayling and Bonnie Greer. A post-demo rally also took place after the march, hosted by Terry Christian, who slated "left wing cranks in the Labour Party who want to destroy our country...

"Don't get me wrong, I'm a dyed in the wool socialist" he said "I agree with most of the policies that Labour are putting forward at the moment but I look at somebody like Jeremy Corbyn, and I'm thinking 'It's not student politics, this is real people's lives; don't sacrifice those, because people won't man the barricades for you; they're just going to become demoralised and not vote in the future'"

The day began with Alastair Campbell playing the EU anthem Ode To Joy on his bagpipes, before adding an anti-Brexit song to the tune of When The Saints Go Marching In, changing to the first line to 'Boris Johnson is a cock'...

To out means out about EU owing us money: for every 24p we paid the EU, we got £1 back in projects and trade opportunities. 'We' voted out? 27% of the UK population in an advisory Referendum based on lies and delusional promises. 15 months on and still no clearer what UK wants! You have been misled, lied to and got false promises! Not given the truth about benefits of being in the EU. Look at http://blogs.ec.europa.eu/ECintheUK/euromyths-a-z-index/ Where your myths are debunked!

Can anyone explain to me how the UK is not owed money by the EU. If we have been a net contributor since the day we joined, then we must have assets and value to be realized. If not then the EU has just been a money black hole. How much do the countries that have always been a net beneficiary, owe? We voted out, what is the confusion. Did GMP train the Spanish police on how to deal with democracy?

Just recently been in Greece and whilst tourists are having a great time the poor locals are living a subsistence life whilst the last of its public services, including the trains, are being sold off to EU partners ie Italy. The remain lobby are right to challenge Corbyn but what plans do they have if they want us to stay in the EU to reform a blatantly corrupt neo-liberal organisation? And why is it always the well-off calling for us to remain? Well heeled journalists, playwrights and failed politicians?? solidarity
