PEN:CHANT CABARET COMES TO LITTLE HULTON POP-UP THEATRE

FOUR DAY POP-UP SALFORD THEATRE

Pen:Chant, a night of alternative cabaret, brings spoken word comic Byron Vincent, singer songwriter, Zoe Kyoti and poet, Reece Williams, to the Paines Plough pop-up theatre on Saturday 9th September, as part of The Lowry's four day Roundabout in Peel Park, Little Hulton.

After touring fringe festivals around the country, Pen:Chant, a night of 'eclectic alternative cabaret' arrives in Little Hulton on Saturday 9th September, as part of The Lowry's four day Roundabout in Peel Park, Little Hulton.

Hosted by award-winning writer and performer, Ben Mellor, the night features comedy, music and poetry...

Byron Vincent, one of BBC poetry season's New Talent Choices, recently wrote and narrated his own show for Radio Four: Hell Is Other People, a self help guide to social anxiety.

Zoe Kyoti, a singer songwriter based in Manchester but born of Anglo-Austrian- Greek-Armenian heritage whose unique brand of bittersweet folk is 'laced with the spice of exotic far-flung places and the roots of jazz, country and blues'.

Reece Williams, a member of poetry collective Young Identity, who has performed alongside Linton Kwesi Johnson, Kate Tempest, Jean Binta Breeze, Saul Williams and The Last Poets.

The pop-up theatre is located in Peel Park, Manchester Road West,
Little Hulton M38 0BT, is open for four days, from Thursday 7th September to Sunday 10th September, and also features free family shows, as well as theatre and a Little Hulton Music and Dance Showcase.

FROM HOBSON'S CHOICE TO HINDLE WAKES

Staging Life: The Story of the Manchester Playwrights is a new history of Manchester's Gaiety Theatre by top author John Harding. It tracks the history of the most progressive theatre in the country which used to stage dramas by radicals including Salford legend Harold Brighouse.

COURT RULES SALFORD MAN WRONGLY EVICTED BY SALIX HOMES AFTER HE SPENT NINE MONTHS ON THE STREETS

HE LOST HIS HOUSE, HIS JOB AND ALMOST HIS LIFE WHEN SALIX EVICTED HIM AND BINNED ALL HIS PERSONAL POSSESSIONS

A judge has ruled that Salix Homes was wrong to have evicted tenant Graciano Mantato last September. Since then Graciano has been homeless, living on and off the streets, lost his job and his health, and has considered taking his own life.

Now Graciano is back in his house in Ordsall – except that the place has been stripped bare and all his personal possessions, including photos and clothes, have been put in the bin. The judge also slammed Salix staff for use of "inappropriate language" when referring to Graciano.

SALFORD CITY COUNCIL SPENT ALMOST £10,000 ON MIPIM PROPERTY JAUNT

COUNCIL SPENT £5,750 ON MIPIM PR IN SOUTH OF FRANCE

Salford Council spent almost £10,000 on the jaunt to the MIPIM property orgy in Cannes. A newly published contract register shows that, as well as the £4,022 costs for the City Mayor and two officers to go to the South of France paid by unknown private sector companies, the Council also spent £5,750 on marketing and PR for MIPIM.

The contract register also shows the Council is spending £9,500 on a 'Salford Story' press consultant, £118,000 on its failed 'digital community hub', over £14,000 on a 'leadership programme' and, er, £25,000 on milk and bread?
